Dear GiGa.GG users,
On Thursday Dec 16th, two of our storage servers became inaccessible: servers 48 and 49. One of the hard disks of server 48 and two of the hard disks of server 49 failed.
(When you start a download, you can see the number of the server you are downloading from).
The files on server 48 could all be restored. The contents of server 49 were lost. However, a large number of files on server 49 were able to be restored:
- All files smaller than 100 MB are duplicated on other servers, so we were able to restore all files smaller than 100 MB that were present on server 49 by copying them from another server.
- All the files stored by paid subscribers (via a regular offer, not an economic offer) are saved with a third-party host, regardless of their size. These files are being restored.
In conclusion :
- If you have subscribed to a paid regular offer (not an economic offer), none of your files should have been impacted. The previews of some files may have disappeared, but you just have to click on the original file to calculate a preview again.
- If you use GiGa.GG for free or if you have subscribed to the economic offer, some of your files larger than 100 MB may have been deleted.
The lost files appear with a red icon in front of their name.
We apologise for this accident; the only way to protect yourself against these hardware failures is to keep a backup at home or to subscribe to a standard offer.
The GiGa.GG team
